Which insurances should be taken out for the construction period and where?

I know that in the construction liability insurance, construction helpers are often covered. At least I know this from certain policies of R&V and Allianz.

Construction helpers are indeed insured through BG Bau as stated truthfully? An additional insurance seems unnecessary to me.

For my renovation project, I only had the general building insurance, which was also required by the bank, and a builder's liability insurance.

Has anyone here ever had to claim or been able to claim one of these insurances?

Ours too – but I don’t know which insurance company it is with at the moment. We have exactly the same insurances included.

#this! Totally unnecessary and I wouldn’t take it out --> similar to motor vehicle passenger accident insurance – nobody needs that, you’re already covered!

There are fire shell insurances that automatically convert into building insurance once the house is finished. There is also builder’s legal expenses insurance, but with pitfalls. There is a thread about this here too:

I also looked into that again – I was the thread starter :) However, I don’t think it makes sense... Too many pitfalls, as you already mentioned. In my opinion, you have to accept the “risk.”

I also believe the benefit mainly lies in calming one's own nerves and possibly strengthening self-confidence during "deficiency negotiations." And you have the free legal advice hotline to properly assess your chances. Whether this is worth the rather high amount over 5 years is something you have to decide yourself...
