You highlighted this as a special feature with HUK. I'm not going to start poring over insurance terms now.

Both types of insurance exist. One should consider which one they want and pay attention to what they sign up for.

We are currently also dealing with the topic.

I personally find the selection of building insurance interesting. As of now, we will choose a middle ground. Not saving at the wrong end, including additional modules like glass, but certainly not choosing the flat top tariff that costs multiple times more. It is also important to us who the insurer is to have appropriate support in the event of a claim.

How do you see it with builders’ liability insurance?

We were offered it by our local insurance office – costs over €150.

There are online tariffs with good coverage for under €60.

Example: Carl Rieck Spezial CR
Deductible: none
Personal and property damage: €10,000,000 flat rate
Financial losses: €10,000,000 flat rate
Insurance duration: until completion of construction, max. 24 months

I tend to lean more towards the economical solution. The probability of something happening is low, and if something happens, it is clearly determined who pays.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Check if your personal liability insurance already includes this. In our case it does, so we do not take out anything additional.

Thank you for the note.

My insurance does not cover that.

My wife's insurance covers undeveloped plots up to 1000 sqm (that fits exactly) and construction projects up to €200,000 construction sum - that would not be quite enough.

We would then have to clarify what happens with the difference to the actual construction sum.

On that occasion, we can then merge the two contracts at the same time.

Also interesting is the inclusion of an all-risks insurance, as with Domcura. "Unusual risks" are insured there.

Interesting what is to be understood by that. Costs about 10% extra.

If you include elemental modules, Domcura is the right choice for me; if you leave them out, Huk24 is the winner – both quite clear.

EDIT:
Found about the all-risks insurance:

    [*]Civil unrest
    [*]Malicious damage
    [*]Smoke / soot
    [*]Sonic boom
    [*]Mudslides
[*]Damage caused by sudden subsidence during tunnel work
[*]Damage caused by underground tree root growth (e.g., lifting of terrace slabs)
[*]Damage caused by rising / falling groundwater levels
    [*]Facade contamination by graffiti (vandalism)
[*]Vandalism damage, e.g., blocking of lock cylinders of entrance doors with superglue
    [*]Scorch damage
    [*]Elevator fall
[*]A gang of thieves breaks into a building and damages the heating system
[*]Vibration damage to the building, e.g., caused by low-flying aircraft
[*]Damage in connection with the clearance of war bombs (so-called "duds")
[*]Damage caused by collision with objects (e.g., power poles)
[*]Damage caused by leakage / spillage of liquids, etc.

What do you think about that?

I find it alarming that without this module, vandalism by burglars is not included.

From my point of view, all these "dangers" must be weighed individually.

Some of the components you listed, such as vandalism, graffiti, or scorch damage, are often included in good tariffs.

Special dangers like civil unrest or damage caused by mudslides depend for me on where the insured property is located. In the North German flatlands, avalanches are rather unusual – certainly not in parts of Bavaria. In downtown Hamburg, civil unrest is more likely than somewhere in the countryside of the Allgäu.

In the end, it is also a matter of price. I would not save 20 or 30€ per year if I see the chance that one of the uninsured dangers occurs. On the other hand, I am not willing to pay double the premium to cover all contingencies.
