Hello dear forum,

we are currently planning to build a terrace from our kitchen and wanted to ask you what you think of our idea. We want to remove the window and replace it with a balcony/terrace door. For this, the masonry below the window has to be removed.
As a terrace, we want to practically build a U-shaped terrace all around with formwork stones and then fill it with concrete and iron. The interior we want to fill with rubble and all the asphalt that we also want to tear up from our driveway and compact it well. That way we should be able to fill the terrace.
On top then a layer of concrete with iron and on that either tiles or terrace slabs, depending.
Has anyone of you ever done something like this? Did you have any problems afterward or were you satisfied with it? Here is a picture for illustration.
Best regards and stay healthy

Is this a terraced house?
Are you the owner?
Is there a basement window?

Disposal of bituminous waste under the terrace sounds at least questionable.

I wouldn't do it that way. It can be done better.

In Greece, people like to do it that way. It holds up as well, but no frost is expected in the ground there. That could lift everything. However, it would have to be a severe winter.

So the driveway from the 2019 plan still hasn't been done either.
And you basically want to sit on the "waste"?
You won't be able to compact it, nor is "asphalt disposal" allowed in this way.

This needs to be properly planned!

Let's put it this way,... in rural areas this is still the usual procedure even today. Currently, however, the inheriting generation also curses when they have to excavate and dispose of this concrete-cast, steel-reinforced rubbish, which does not hold up for more than 20 years but is so stable that dismantling it is a torment.
