Of course. But: First, the neighbors are not always present either. And in my specific case, they wouldn’t notice anything at all because they are too far away. The risk would be on the south side if I realize this project. And that side is almost completely surrounded by a public green area, where in one case even a path runs directly along the fence. The responsible authority has since removed the benches because they were constantly destroyed.
I’m really glad that you all obviously live in peaceful areas, but I’m here in Berlin, and basically everything that can happen, does happen here. The thing with the copper actually happened, too.
The only advantage you have here: if you need them, the police are on site within two minutes. But for that, you need short reporting routes that also work when you’re not there. I imagine it like this: someone climbs over the fence and approaches the house. They enter the detection range of one of the video cameras, and the sensors trigger a message to the security center. The security center looks at the picture, sees the people there, and calls the police. Upon the police’s arrival, the front gate is opened remotely so that the patrol car can drive straight through to the back and arrest the people before greater damage happens.
I consider that a sensible concept. Video surveillance is important because it allows the security center to get an actual picture of the situation on site. With pure perimeter security, that is not the case. A few years ago, I once had an alarm activation, namely the tamper circuit triggered. So it could have been that someone was tampering with some external components. The security center called me, and I was on the other side of the city. So I said they should send the police. They were on site with two patrol cars and four people until I arrived, which I of course have to pay for. That’s logical. I don’t think it’s good if four well-trained police officers are not available for other operations for an hour just because my system sent out a message that later turned out to be a technical defect. Therefore, the house simply needs to be able to provide more information, in my opinion.
