Direct line to the local police station? You seem to be a public figure

No, only jewelers and the like receive something like that. There must always be a preliminary check by a private alarm center. That works well. They know exactly what to do: In case of a burglary alarm, call first and if there is no response, send the police. In case of a fire alarm, call and if there is no response, send the fire department. In case of a water alarm, call and if there is no response, send the water utility to shut off the house connection. And in case of a hold-up alarm, send the police immediately with quiet approach.

However, in my opinion, all this is only sufficient for a house that is in the first row on the street. A house located in the back near a green area must be considered differently.

There have already been cases in this area where burglars have killed the dog. It should be clear that this causes a family catastrophe. I am also responsible for the lady of my heart and her daughter. They are already terrified when I’m not around. So at least additional technology must give them the feeling of maximum security.

Well, I’m not going to seek contact with any problematic groups of people just to deter other problematic groups of people...

Make an appointment for a consultation with the police and your security service. They know what is needed in your neighborhood and what has proven effective.

Note to self. Learn a martial art before the next trip to Berlin.

We have our houses inspected by the Kripo advisory service every few years. It usually turns out that the current state of things is pretty good. But the problem is: only professionals recognize, for example, the quality of the windows and doors and then leave it at that. Idiots try anyway and cause damage. Therefore, some time ago I retrofitted an internal grille on the patio door, which is lowered at night and when we are away. This clearly signals that there is no chance to get in quickly.

But now we are riding so much on the security topic. I even have that pretty well under control. What I find harder to estimate are other things like heavy rain events. The fact is that, at the current house, the drainage components planned almost 20 years ago are no longer sufficient today because the rainfall amounts have increased more than was predicted back then. In a new project, I would therefore try to solve it so that all water that falls can definitely flow freely somewhere into the area and no pumps have to operate. Also, all elements of the rainwater drainage should be freely accessible and not somehow built in or hidden.

That would speak, for example, rather against a green flat roof, but a pitched roof with external drainage would be less problematic in the long term, right?
