I have currently planned the office on the ground floor. I can’t say for sure if there is a slope because I haven’t seen the property in person yet. I only know maps... I just like to start planning as soon as something interesting comes onto the market because that doesn’t happen often. There are no children yet, but there should definitely be 2, 3 optionally, or then a guest room or something similar.

You don't have to believe me, but I know that it is so. It was a house built in 2005. New construction is perhaps a bit better, but as I said, we had [WDVS] and floor-to-ceiling windows in the basement. We also had [controlled residential ventilation], as well as underfloor heating and radiators. Still, it was extremely unpleasant. In summer actually even worse, because of humidity. I wouldn't have thought that either, our thought was "in summer it is pleasantly cool, you can sleep well." Fat chance!

Thank you for your contribution, of course I believe you, even though it is simply hard for me to imagine. But I will definitely keep it in mind during the planning!

I can't confirm that at all. At my parents' house, I also mostly had my room in the basement (built on a hillside, so normal windows facing the garden), house built in 1989/1990... the basement older and I didn't find the climate bad at all. Nice and cool in summer, not too cold in winter thanks to cork flooring. When I moved out for university, I was back in the basement with my shared apartment room and I found it comfortable there too.

Well, I can only understand 24-hour darkening if the neighbors have set up their telescope 3 meters away, otherwise I can't understand why you wouldn't let any light in at all. Something like that should then be planned, meaning skylights instead of boarded-up regular windows.

That surprises me. I also know a few, a small number of basement bedrooms, and it doesn't have to be like you say. Almost all were comfortable.

Had lived in the basement for years

Nice and cool in summer

Warm thanks to heating
It was bright enough too
