Apart from the actual question, I think you are worrying for the "wrong reasons" or from the wrong perspective.

As I read from the initial post, you have been worried since you (or your expert) read the guideline on the (alleged) protection of children. Without knowing the guideline, you found the tub in front of the window with this railing to be okay.

As far as I know, these railing heights are not prescribed because of endangered children - but quite the opposite, for the protection of adults. It is about the center of gravity or tipping point. If an average-sized person leans on, for example, a 70 cm railing and loses their balance, they will tip over it. That is why this is no longer allowed today (with grandfathering, by the way).

For children, to be honest, it does not matter whether they have to climb 20 cm higher. Your lockable handles are much safer for that.

Perhaps this information will help you see the matter a bit more calmly?

State of the art would be to design a bathroom that updates the arbitrary bathroom planning of a standard house or the template of the contract for work and services regarding comfort, etc. This should also be done by the installed sanitary company after the shell construction. Ventilation would be state of the art with a ventilation system. Some rules should simply be checked to see whom they protect.

In my opinion, you are exaggerating a bit here. I consider the likelihood of something happening here to be very low. Then you wouldn’t be allowed to have any small tables, chairs or stools in any rooms where the window can be completely opened. If your children bring their friends home, they should be old enough to know that you shouldn’t jump out of the window....

Do you seriously lock the windows in the children’s rooms? Honestly, I wouldn’t know what to do with lockable handles on the upper floor. We don’t even use them on the ground floor. They wouldn’t stop a burglar anyway.

If you are really afraid, install a lockable handle and that’s it. You only open bathroom windows completely, if at all, shortly for ventilation.

We have had the lockable handles on the upper floor since the almost three-year-old stood on the windowsill and the window was open. To water the flowers on the balcony. He had built himself a step out of crates for that. I only noticed because suddenly there was a draft in the hallway. Not funny.

We hardly open the windows on the upper floor, actually only for cleaning. But I know the self-made climbing aids. Step stool, chair, bar stool, or chair with a second step stool

The likelihood that an irrational worry can be resolved by a rational argument is extremely low. We do not fear things because they are objectively more dangerous than others, but because they create a resonance within us. For a while, people were afraid to go to a Christmas market and felt alarmed in the presence of a full-bearded man dressed in cloth. Anyone with a vivid imagination who has a story or images in their head is simply well advised to deal with it. Whether children are about to fall out of the window or not – if someone worries about it, it costs quality of life. If this can be prevented by a railing, it is an extremely good investment – completely independent of what you or I think.
