Hello forum,

unfortunately, I did not find the right information through the search function. Since my wife and I are laypersons in this matter, we turn to your collective knowledge.

The following situation: We are buying a turnkey semi-detached house from the developer. It has a full basement made of WU concrete. Further development of the basement will not be done by the developer, i.e. we will receive the bare concrete slab. We are talking about approximately 52 sqm of space.

The basement is intended for the technical equipment (connections, district heating, etc.), as a laundry room, and storage space. Especially for doing laundry, a bare concrete floor is rather unpleasant.

What kind of finishing would you recommend? We would like to do as much as possible ourselves and – well – it should be reasonably inexpensive.

Thank you very much and best regards
Leonbra

Linoleum or cheap tiles yourself. Glued vinyl is very durable but less eco-friendly.

Basement unheated? Insulation downwards present?

Raw base slab from the developer? Then the first (dirty) work step will be grinding before anything can be placed on it.

Apply leveling compound on it, then paint with garage floor paint. The two K paints are high quality.

It would make sense, so have the screed done and then possibly tile yourself with cheap hardware store tiles. Screed costs about 1200 plus material, tiles will come to a good 1500 euros.

Recommending flooring without considering the use of the rooms is a tricky matter. Technically, you don’t have to do anything. In a utility room, I would lay tiles; in a room where a guest may also be accommodated, something more homely; for pure storage rooms, I would paint or tile.
