Are all the plots really that big? A small plot would be enough. Mine is really miniature, but it still works well. You still get a garden feeling even with a smaller area. With a small plot you could save around 80,000 euros. That’s something at least.

Sure, it wouldn't be a problem, the smallest is 340m2. We actually also planned to do a lot ourselves as own contribution.

Would an existing property be the "better" choice with that salary?

The problem with existing properties is that they are quite expensive. You easily pay 80% or more of the price of a new build, but in return you get an old house that requires renovation, which also costs money. And then the additional purchase costs eat into you. Moreover, even a renovated old house does not have the same standard as a new build today, I’m just saying underfloor heating. Standard today, but a major renovation in an old building.

That is ambitious if you also have a baby/toddler and still have to work on the side.

I don’t see building as feasible either. No equity, plus initially less income due to the child. Save consistently for 3-4 years and then look for an existing property.
