Haven't you already signed a fixed contract with the architect? So the question is whether you can just switch him again so easily? We are building on the outskirts of Munich and had phases 1-4 planned through an architect, the rest is now being handled by a construction company that is delivering the house turnkey. From past experience, I would strongly advise you to have the construction costs assessed realistically. Looking back, our architect had zero idea of the truly current prices, and our construction company was already off by 30k with the estimated additional costs for all customers, and we don’t have a slope but a completely simple plot with good soil. If we had planned with the company that is now building from the start, we would certainly have spared ourselves one or the other nonsense without spoiling the overall impression. Please don’t let anyone tell you "such a great plot, you have to build an even greater house on it" if you can’t inject the corresponding financial means later without painful losses in your quality of life. Most people want a house where they mainly feel comfortable, live a happy family life, and can feel "at home". Therefore, think about what triggers this feeling for you and what it really needs. The "boring" standard house with 150-170 m2, a great kitchen, a cozy large fireplace and beautiful bathrooms may be worth more than the impressive architect’s house with large glass windows that looks "wow" on the outside but is rather "wow no" inside due to the cheapest fittings because the budget didn’t stretch any further in the end. I would therefore, in your place, have a house planned within your original comfort budget and keep the possibly still available buffer for unforeseen expenses and a few highlights in the fittings.
