Dear forum,

you are probably tired of this question by now – but we simply need your experiences, as we will be building for the first time.

What remains massively uncertain to us until today is the calculation of the exterior landscaping. We plan to pave 70m2 for the driveway to the property in the Wennigsen Hannover area. In addition, there is the paving from the driveway to the house entrance (7m) and the construction of a small platform. Everything standard – simple concrete stones in anthracite are sufficient.

Next comes the double carport and 250m2 of roll lawn and 35m2 of terrace. What would you roughly plan for? Do you even have good contacts in the direction of Polish companies or good ones from the region?

Are the following costs realistic?

Double carport 6x5 m and small shed including assembly = 12,000 euros

Paving work with driveway and terrace = 15,000 euros

Roll lawn = 5,000 euros

The property has no major elevation changes etc.

We look forward to your assessment.

Welcome to the forum, the costs for the outdoor area were planned as a reserve/buffer during the house construction. Only when the house was built and the bills paid did we start on the rest. That would then be fence with gate, paving, terrace, carport, shed, beds, paths, lawn, possibly preparation for sprinkler systems, lawn mower robot etc. In total more than 30,000€, rather double to triple that. But none of that has to be done immediately, you then have time, the house is more important.

No, why? That’s what the forum is for.

That is justified, at least from a financial point of view. People tend to relativize by telling themselves, "I just want it in a ‘simple way’ or ‘just the normal,’" but the "normal" actually costs a lot of money. This area is probably one of the most difficult to estimate or offers the expensive pitfalls in construction.
From gut feeling, I would say calculate double, because there are many uncertainties or factors to adjust, especially in your case.
I know people who bought a small used excavator and then sold it again, also a trailer. Then they taught themselves how to excavate and carried out complex projects. Likewise, there are people who wanted to do their exterior areas on their own but ultimately just want to be director or conductor with the baton. In between lies a very wide field, and it mostly depends on where you stand in it.
"Back in the day," we also shaped ours ourselves or with friends over years, even using demolition materials or unconventionally cheap ways to create beautiful things, which I still consider a great and inexpensive solution, but today speed probably dominates and houses are supposed to look fancy after 1-2 years. Everyone has their own idea, the paving price is rather insignificant in the calculation.
Based on your previous description, no one will be able to give you a reliable figure.

Could work, depending on material and roofing Rather tight, with a terrace that's over 100 m² and if all of it should be bordered with curbstones, that's a lot of labor, even if you choose cheap materials. Judging by the username you are from the Hamburg area, that will probably be more expensive. If you are very rural, maybe it could work. Should be about right, even though I have no personal experience with it...

Sowing 250 sqm of lawn yourself - 120 € (professional seed, electric hand spreader, borrowed roller, 60 minutes of work) - just did it myself.

Wennigsen is near Hannover. Teresa Orlowski lived there for several years. Just a superfluous piece of info by the way.

Outdoor area is difficult. Don’t forget the basic borders around the house. That and any flower beds can be done along with the paving edging. The good thing is: you can do a lot bit by bit yourself. You have to budget the main stuff with materials though; hedges, shrubs, and 4-5 main plants can cost quite a bit. If the weeds are kept in check, I would seed myself. But I can’t say anything about the costs: we paid a flat rate, which included laying the terrace, placing some dry walls, gravel/crushed stone as surface material for paths and driveway, and the curb stones. We supplied the fancy materials like slate and granite ourselves.
