We are building in the Main Kinzig district.
There are currently no building fairs, I would have to take a look at new development areas in neighboring towns. However, the trend here is towards building on a concrete slab and filling in – even on a large slope.

What currently interests me more is how exactly I should proceed. Should I rather contact construction companies, or look for a planner? And are there planners who are not architects?

Yipppiiieeehhh, very good, it will be better for you with that. You can search online under Massivhaus etc., I think I read something nice in Wächtersbach but there are quite a few there. Then you will quickly notice if it could fit for you. After that, you can still adjust, redesign, and create many things! Good idea!

There is a risk that you’ll wear out your soles, you won’t find anything. If that’s a trend, it doesn’t really matter for you though. You build with a living area on the ground floor (that’s not a basement!) and the construction company does it the same way as with a slab on grade. As I said, I had it like that for many years and I know what I’m talking about. Take a normal floor height in the basement and then it’s living space moving forward. That way you can save space further up or, if budget allows, implement other things.

Just Google, for example, "Haus im Hang". Maybe the pictures will help you imagine it better.

I've already done that. But there's really nothing that would suit us. Usually the entrance is on the ground floor, but for us it would be in the basement.

...and you don't know that yet either, only once you've been to the planner. You definitely shouldn't be discouraged, it will work out, don't worry. Just imagine that the front rooms are at street level and thus actually on the edge floor. Something like that.....
