I basically agree with you by definition. If the basement gets damp in the 4th year or the roof structure rots and you only notice now. That's fine... But you have used the toilet at least dozens of times every day for the past 5 years and never once spoke up. How should the general contractor or developer take you seriously with such a complaint? Let alone a lawyer who would represent you. In such a case, as a general contractor, I would be willing to take the legal dispute.

Legally, defects
... must be reported immediately when discovered.
Wrong! It is not executed incorrectly, but falls within the recommendation of the sanitary trade/manufacturer (your words)
You are a know-it-all here who stubbornly is always right and never wrong.

You are quite a know-it-all here, who stubbornly is always right and never wrong.[/QUOTE] Just because I might have something better to do than to flood the forum with posts and comments for pastime or other motives like you do (I’m just saying 14,342 posts since 10.2012, about 6 posts per day), you thus have customary rights here as a senior forum member (gender-neutral) and therefore portray me, as a low-level user, as a know-it-all. My initial question was asked out of pure interest and, as is usual in other forums, the mob first swarms the "newbie" and marks their territory. On the other topic: reporting defects immediately when they occur: Why should I run to the builder for every little thing right away? Yes, the screed has settled and a tile cracks. So I wait until the end of the 5 years, maybe more will appear and then the tiler doesn't have to come out twice. Which would also be advantageous in an economic sense. Since technical discussions are hardly possible here, I’m out. Have fun but not at my expense.

With all due respect: I was once new here too and have always been treated with the greatest courtesy here and owe the forum many good tips and suggestions. That is why I - even though our house is almost finished - always like to come here again and share the treasure of my experiences with others. I therefore cannot leave the unjustified criticism from the last post unchallenged. And that has to be said / written. Immediately. And not only in almost five years...

That has never happened to me anywhere. Strange. Not that it’s the newbie’s fault later on...

I have nothing more to say about the topic.

And if you had asked: “Have defects been allowed to accumulate so far so that no one has to come out more often than necessary? Does our toilet that’s too high also count?”

you might have gotten different kinds of answers. Communication and all that.
