Wire mesh with plastic strips does not speak for a modern cottage garden.
The pictures represent a colorful mix.
Definitely find a uniform style or at least something matching.
Whether the wall is allowed afterwards, I am not sure. In my opinion, it is not listed in 11.2.
To me personally, the fence with plastic strips looks more like a prison.
To stay with the wall:
- who and how takes care of the neighbor’s side?
- to me, it would cost too many square meters
Regarding the budget
A fence all around the property leaves not much budget left.
Therefore, think carefully about what you absolutely need and develop everything step by step.
You can do a lot with 20,000 Euros, especially if you head towards cottage garden/natural style.
I would place play equipment so that the children can always be seen from the house and the terrace. At that age, there is no peace anyway.
For the pool, provide connections, and where and how you run it, I would decide when the time comes. I would only build it once the kids can swim. Budget must also be available again.
Plan the grill area in the depression. If the house smells of smoke, so what? It will disperse.
Really take one step at a time in planning. You can always add your ideas and wishes or your collected experiences.
I find fruit scattered around the garden quite nice. There are many ideas.
Not only for fruit. For example, sometimes runner beans are used as a privacy screen or bean tepees for the kids.
Looking at the fountain picture, it fits into a cottage garden.
But only isolated shrubs, lawn edge, robot fits more a modern irrigation system.
Yes, we have to see what and how we want to realize, modern, cottage garden, nature????
The pictures are meant as examples so that one knows roughly how it should look, of course everything can be more modern or old etc.
Regarding the wall, yes, we are not sure yet, it was initially a consideration to "cheaply" gain height. We want the plastic strips because we already have neighbors and roads all around and still want to feel mostly for ourselves in the entire garden, i.e., unobserved, of course, that is not completely possible, but at least somewhat.
Do you have another solution? We don’t want bushes/hedges because it takes a long time until they are dense.
(Man, this sounds like we are total loners, but it's not like that, but a little privacy would be great)
On the neighbor's side, we would just leave the soil or cover it with bark mulch if necessary, so the maintenance would be zero.
Regarding budget, exactly that is the "problem." Neighbor 1 already has a hedge, so we would not put up a fence there at first; if he removes the hedge, we will put up a fence. With neighbor 2, we hope that he puts up the fence before us, then we don’t need one there either (of course, he might have the same idea, but we just hope). Then we would have 75m of fence, which is still quite a bit, but what can we do?
I will take a closer look at the cottage garden/natural garden, thanks for the tip.
Many thanks also for the other information, as mentioned, we are still thinking about what and when and how we want to do things.
Best regards
