There in the niche :) our shoe cabinet is only 18 cm wide and has space for 16 pairs of shoes. The rest go into the bedroom. The drawn kitchen corresponds to ours, by the way. We are planning a new freestanding island 3.07 m long that runs parallel to the vestibule.

Whaaaaat?????? For quickly grabbing a jacket, do you walk into your dark walk-in closet?? Do you have children? Or guests sometimes??? This is not a well-thought-out idea... do you have any alternatives? Where are the winter clothes? We need at least (for two) 2 meters in total for winter coats and summer jackets... and we are not very demanding ;)

So far we have a 3 meter wardrobe together and it is too small. In the walk-in closet there are 2 meters for each. That is enough. I work in sales and have plenty of shirts and the space is now sufficient. Winter jackets or winter bedding are stored under the bed in airtight boxes. But I can hang coats above the shoe cabinet. The shoe cabinet is 18cm deep and 70 cm high. Jackets can be hung above it. We do not have children yet. But we wish for two..

... yes, and where are all the jackets for the kids supposed to go? The stroller has to be parked and shoes stay where they are taken off. And that for at least 10 years (I'm not out of that age myself yet ;)) Your floor plan reminds me of mine in the current end-terrace house. Only we have a wardrobe niche at the end of the WC, the stairs are set one meter higher and go straight. And honestly? This whole front corner is one reason why I am building new. At least your plan should have a closet (near the door) where all the jackets can fit (I'm not talking about shirts or anything...) Your dining area will turn into a wardrobe, mark my words :D

Ok then we'll talk again in a few years :) a wardrobe would be useful though. But I think some training is also necessary so that the kiddies take their clothes upstairs.

but honestly, rebuilding the front part? That certainly wasn't the only reason ;)

Yes, but what do you want to teach there? Just imagine going in and out of the house with three people, small children can't yet dress and undress themselves. Then one of you stands in the dining area to put shoes on the child, to look for the gloves from "where?", to fiddle with the snowsuit... When you come back, possibly still from damp and merry weather, you take everything off the kid and send them upstairs where they are supposed to put the wet clothes in the wardrobe... And all that because three people absolutely have to be able to cook in the kitchen at the same time ;) Now I also know why you are asking about mold... naturally mold or mildew will develop there... That's why we're obviously not building, we have arranged things between the two of us. But it is one point I am really looking forward to: a hallway with freedom of movement and places to put things. I just measured the old hallway: 145 x 180, with all three doors opening into this hallway :(
