Good evening,

You can also have it deleted here if you want; a short PM to the admin/me is enough ;)

Rhenish greetings

Hey Manu
your floor plan looks exciting! I imagine it’s very practical to have the utility room right next to the kitchen. How big is the kitchen approximately? And I have a question about the bedroom, the planned closet space looks rather small, how have you planned for the clothes? The bathroom looks really great! I’m definitely looking forward to hearing about experiences!

Edit: what is that room in the front right corner on the ground floor?

:-) The kitchen is a bit over 16m2. We are still discussing the closet space in the bedroom a bit. Either we make a closet across the entire width, which would be about 3.90m. But then I wouldn’t have any space for a small TV, unless we somehow integrate it into the closet (I’m often alone and sometimes watch TV from bed). Second option: we make two 1.50m closets and a dresser with a TV above it in the middle, or the third option: we make two walk-in closets totaling 4m. In the middle, two 1m closets would be placed back to back, and next to the door and window, 1m each. We would then separate the whole thing to the front with a drywall and install two doors. One “room” would be for my husband and one for me. The advantage of option 3 would be that you could put hooks on the wall to the children's room for clothes you take off in the evening and want to air out a bit, so they don’t lie around visibly in the bedroom. All jackets go completely into the wardrobe closet downstairs in the hallway. The small room to the right of the front door is the technical room. We have water storage, water and electricity connections, heat pump, cable and telephone connections housed not in the utility room but in a separate small room. This way a technician doesn’t have to walk through the whole house and stand in front of the dirty laundry when something needs fixing :-) I don’t like that. The utility room remains entirely my domain, with washing machine, dryer, second refrigerator, freezer, etc.

I thought so ;-) .

I wouldn’t make the wardrobe the full width, a TV in the bedroom has its charm, especially if you’re often alone ;-). A wardrobe for each person and a tall chest of drawers in the middle sounds great. We have something similar right now, a large wardrobe, a tall chest of drawers with a TV to the right, all in front of the bed. The second wardrobe stands to the right of the bed. The TV sits very high because of the tall chest of drawers, so you can watch very comfortably while lying down. You just have to make sure the chest of drawers is sturdy so it doesn’t bend under the weight of the TV (ours is inexpensive, so we don’t care, and we have a big, heavy TV). Or you can hang the TV on the wall, which also works of course. I didn’t quite understand option three, I’m too tired to think ;-).

I think the idea of a separate tech room next to the entrance is great!

Hi ,

you are living in your house by now, right? We talked at the very beginning of the thread about whether you would like to give some feedback.

What do you like? What looked completely different on the floor plan compared to how it is now? What might you do differently after all?

Right. We have now been living in our house for a while. I have often thought about what I would change. And I have to be honest, the house fits us like a glove. After half a year, I can say I wouldn’t change anything. We still like the room layout. Maybe now in hindsight, I would move the living room window facing the street a bit closer to the entrance and instead put in a patio door. Because we live in a cul-de-sac without traffic and right in front of this window we have a nice paved area where you can really sit well in the summer, and in front of that we planted a small hedge as a privacy screen. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change anything: the hallway is big enough but not too big for 5 people. I also like that there is space in the upstairs hallway for a large wardrobe and a dresser. The upstairs hallway is also sufficiently bright, thanks to the skylights in the bathrooms and the roof window right at the stairs to the attic. The bedroom is small but everything fits in and it is completely sufficient. I wouldn’t want to give up our walk-in closet anymore. The bathroom layout is good too. Even the small children's bathroom has been (!) sufficient for 3 children so far, although I had my doubts – but it works.

If you want to know anything else – just ask :-D
