An access point instead of a repeater is understandable - but what is worse about an "access point with mesh" than an "access point with a separate network"?

Yes, it is faster on the 2.4 kHz network. I haven't even looked at the 2400 one yet. The 3000 is a bit faster. However, today the 5GHz network is more important in the living area. Therefore, position it sensibly so that there is 5GHz coverage where it is needed.

I’m just asking because the prices are the same. Should I rather take the 2400 then?

An access point that creates a mesh picks up a WiFi signal and extends it. Since these devices are designed for this and sometimes multiple devices are used, the loss is not as significant as with a classical repeater. The access point also needs to be installed in an area with good WiFi coverage.
An access point connected via LAN and setting up a new WiFi (can be the same SSID and password) has full throughput because it is directly connected to the network via cable.
Repair, LAN over powerline, and mesh have no place in new constructions.
As a retrofit solution or with low demands, mesh can make sense.

Ah, now we have talked past each other.
I thought you meant with your sentence (below) a "mesh access point over LAN" compared to an "access point with a separate network name."

Sorry
