As a prefabricated house manufacturer, we are always interested in the wishes of (prospective) builders. And the topic of windows never gets old. There are always new trends, and we wonder what actually appeals to you?

Preferably large windows or even a floor-to-ceiling window front? Or rather more discreet variants that offer you more privacy? Obviously, everything has its advantages and disadvantages.

What do you prefer and why?

We at Bien-Zenker look forward to your suggestions and experiences, which we consider as input for our daily work.

I just finished my reply to SvenKeller, and when I tried to send it, the thread suddenly disappeared, now it’s showing up here again *amazed*

Oh, is the colleague still on vacation?

Threads about "floor-to-ceiling windows" and about "hypes" already exist here.

Besides following facade fashion, there is a long-term and seemingly endless economic trend to expect from the window manufacturer that the additional costs for dream bathrooms and kitchens or the like can at least be partially compensated.

There are currently no real trends: neither shifts in preference between folding and tilt-and-slide, nor the desire for terrace doors that open outward, nor a (retro) trend towards box windows, flower windows or similar. Windows are foiled in anthracite or occasionally in wood look, but no pink and no animal print or techno / graffiti / tattoo style.

In my assessment, builders will also not want to do without windows in the future. So the trend continues. Joking aside, in our new development area, 99% is anthracite, you can see quite a lot of [Stulp] and exterior shading.

My (felt, not counted) majority impression here in the forum is that many builders are not even aware that they have to say so when they want the "without mullion" version for two-leaf windows – in the aesthetically "worst" case with the consequence that only the "second escape route" is executed with mullion and adjacent windows of the same size then look a bit different.

From my point of view, the demand for RC2 is a bit "hyped," whereas little thought is "wasted" on rebate or central seals. It is strange that aluminum is either not considered at all (plastic, also for front doors and – ! – lift-and-slide doors) or only in combination with wood (so the price jumps from Dacia to Maybach).

And you constantly read a lot of thoughtlessness regarding windows whose cleaning was not considered (in the airspace of the entrance hall or above the head end of the matrimonial bed).

For those contemporaries who plan their facades particularly unstructured – that is, those who create the wildest mixes of formats and sizes – it is often extremely important to distribute the chaos symmetrically.

Here about 50% white windows, the rest anthracite or light gray. Many Scandinavian wooden houses with outward-opening windows, not tilt and turn, but with a central hinge. Hardly any roller shutters or the like. Pleated blinds usually suffice for us. Material is mostly PVC. For terrace windows and doors there are a few nouveau riche with lift-and-slide doors, but mostly just a door. Fixed side parts. Floor-to-ceiling windows are already seen more often even at the top, but it’s not a hype yet, maybe 25%. K.
