Just post some pictures so we can get an idea. Is it about the interior or the exterior?

It is difficult when you have a concrete idea of something and then it turns out completely different. At first, it is extremely hard to get used to. In many cases, however, time will heal the wounds and maybe someday you’ll even find it quite good!

So basically, keep your head up and as was written, maybe something can still be saved with little effort (covering or something).

Something is going wrong here. Apparently, you’re talking about assigning blame and you deny any shared responsibility in your decision. Rejecting that and "assigning blame" is a common and – sorry – tactically very unwise reflex in negotiations.
The point is that you get the right windows. Your grandpa will see it that way too. Then you can pull together and think about a solution – whether with insurance or however.

We have signed nothing! He ordered that without our signature. We informed ourselves and unfortunately can't do anything. A lawyer would be extremely expensive and one doesn't know what would come of it. It's a pity, we will have to live with it.
