I think so. You just have to be careful not to damage the existing conduit. But make sure the box is big enough. A standard flush-mounted box will not be enough.

Since things are slowly moving towards implementation, a quick question on the best way to do it? For an empty box, I would probably need a hole saw? Or drill a hole and then actually use a hammer and chisel? Third option: leave it alone and hire an electrician?

The cable comes vertically from the ceiling (so there is a borehole from the upper floor and the cable was routed through it). It should therefore be possible with a hole saw, right?

Try it! If someone now says "works" and it doesn't work, it won't help you either :)

Of course, there is no guarantee, but if I knew that the cable was running vertically in the ceiling, I would take the risk - only with the "retracted" drill bit in the middle, so that the cable remains intact.
