Who should be the builder?

Our architect recently asked us who, of us, meaning my husband or me, should be the client. Does anyone know about this? Are there differences depending on whether I am, my husband is, or maybe both of us? Are there advantages or disadvantages? How is it for you? Please help.

The client is the legally and economically responsible principal in construction law for the execution of construction projects.
That means they are liable.

However, it is strange to me that the architect apparently holds you liable, because usually public-law tasks are assigned to the designer.

Sometimes it can be useful to consider whether the property and thus the future house belong equally to both spouses or to only one of them. When we built the house back then, we decided that everything would be in my wife's name, and that was not bad at the time, but today it might be better otherwise.

Well, one must never forget, if one should ever get divorced. The house belongs only to one person and the other has no right to it even if they have always paid diligently.
