Hello, we are currently considering which shower wall and floor we should choose. a) Shower wall masonry + tiled, shower floor slope screed + tiled, only door glass b) Shower wall plastic/glass element(s), shower floor metal/ceramic tray, door glass In our current apartment, the shower wall is tiled and reddish lime deposits always form in the joints. Are there special joints or coatings where this no longer happens? Is option b) preferable in terms of plastering effort? I like both.

Glass must be cleaned... or always wiped off.

We previously had b) and now have a), and I am happy with the new version. In my opinion, the tiles require less cleaning than glass. However, we also have very little lime in the water. I would base this decision more on the floor plan and lighting conditions than on the cleaning effort.

In our current rental apartment, we have a fully tiled shower without a glass wall, and we clean the tiles maybe once a month because you simply can’t see anything beforehand. In the old apartment, we had to wipe off the glass partition after every shower, otherwise you would immediately see lime scale residues. Therefore, it is clear to us that we will choose a floor-to-ceiling fully tiled shower (i.e., option 1) in our own house.

Lime is rarely red - that is then iron-rich water ;)
