Which material is suitable for the garden fence of the first house?

We want to build our house this year and since patience is not really our thing (OK, I think that’s legitimate, because we are fulfilling our dream of a lifetime), we already talked today about the garden fence and, of course, also about the gate.

The fence should be eye-catching, especially in front of the house, and also durable as well as low-maintenance. We are not worried about the costs... What is important is that the quality and the price-performance ratio are right.

Steel, hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated. I think a fence should fit the region and the house. Maybe wood is more suitable for you? Or a hedge? Or no fence at all? What do the neighbors have? How is it three streets over?
