Hello everyone,

we want to build a single-family house with about 170m^2.

I actually thought that we would definitely build KfW 70, possibly even KfW 55. In conversations with developers, we are always advised against it, saying that the cost would not be worth it and we would not have energy savings later either. What do you think about that? How are you building? We definitely want to build with brick, we are still unsure about heating, gas or heat pump.

I'm not an expert, but we were told back then that the economic effort from the energy saving ordinance to the KFW70 house is significantly lower than the step from KFW70 to the KFW55 house - especially since an expert must also be involved here.

We decided on the KFW70 standard - without considering any subsidies/loans. Thanks to controlled residential ventilation and a brine heat pump, our actual consumption is even closer to KFW55.

With brick construction, it is more difficult to achieve good insulation values than with wood, so we will build with timber frame construction, aiming for KfW 40. A brick-by-brick provider we visited already looked strange when we mentioned KfW 70, it doesn't seem to be very popular with them.

The expert must also be involved for KFW-70 funding (by now).

I didn’t know that - in 2011 it wasn’t like that yet
