Most issues were quickly resolved and had no real impact:
1. Upon delivery of the staircase, it was found to be too short. Since the windows were supposed to arrive the next day, a construction staircase had to be quickly installed.
2. A total of six windows had cracks in the glass. However, they were replaced without any issues.
3. Coordination between the electrician and heating engineer was very poor. Neither felt truly responsible.
4. In the kitchen, the countertop was supposed to run into the recess of the window sill. Unfortunately, the window sill was too high, so it had to be chiseled out during the kitchen installation.
5. After a short time, efflorescence appeared on the base of the exterior plaster. The base was redone under warranty.
6. For the kitchen, a damaged side panel was initially delivered; six weeks later, a replacement side panel with incorrect dimensions arrived, and after another six weeks, the correct side panel was delivered.
7. Delivery and installation of an alarm system was only completed 11 months after the promised date due to delivery problems.
8. The gardener backed out two weeks before he was scheduled to start. With a lot of luck, an adequate replacement was found.
9. A special attachment was missing on the chimney. Since the scaffolding had already been dismantled, no one wanted to install this attachment. In the end, a friend who is a roofer climbed up to do it.
10. Overnight, an unknown third party dumped large amounts of construction debris and trash on the small pile of tile scraps in front of our house. Since the culprit could not be identified, the disposal was left to us.
