OT: this gross/net thing annoys me endlessly as well. Sure, you get it eventually, but sorry, as an end consumer you've simply been used to gross prices your whole life. I already look forward to the moment I remember to ask whether net or gross.

Is the road really completely torn up and re-asphalted? Sounds very expensive...

Actually, only the final prices are allowed to be shown to private customers (the tax may be listed separately, but in the end the total amount must be stated) and if you receive an offer where this is not the case, you theoretically only have to pay the stated price. But surely hardly anyone does that.

Yes, recently pipes for wastewater and rainwater were laid onto my property, and gas was connected directly. Two weeks of full road closure (the neighbors wanted to lynch my site manager...) were announced spontaneously. The road was torn up, luckily everything was finished after a week. What does it cost? Gas about €2200, the price sheet shows the price transparently, but the "construction cost surcharge" or something similar was forgotten, that was on top. For wastewater, I still have no idea what it might cost, there was never an offer... Hand-over shafts for sewage and rainwater together about €4k.
I was also furious about water and electricity, which were actually already on the property. I had called specifically and asked about costs, no, they said, installing the meter is free... nothing else would be charged. Now both demanded €1k each for the extension into the house, and I even had to have the trench dug myself.
