Ah yes, core beech, we have that in the children's room with the furniture because it is warm and friendly. In our case, it is definitely much less red/orange than classical beech. Your other interior style doesn't necessarily seem to fit perfectly with it. However, core beech combines very well with gray and white, of course, also fits. Therefore, in your case, I would look for a very grayish tone. Maybe a gray where a slight brown can barely be detected. That would also pick up the dark, cool color of the railing. The beech will definitely come across well in that contrast but will, of course, also be emphasized. That can look good if, for example, you use rattan baskets in a similar color tone in the hallway or a jute rug as a runner, or something along those lines. Then the staircase doesn't appear as a foreign body, but you can still combine the gray look well with it. So, I wouldn't try to combine a wood tone in any way but would go directly for something very gray-heavy.

Check out a guide from Wimmer Massivholzmöbel. They have shown different types of wood with different colors. Great to get an idea of the effect and combination possibilities. You can find it in one of the usual search engines since linking is unfortunately not allowed here.

Yes, we had also considered gray, but did not want to choose too gray. One should primarily be able to recognize that it is wood that is then given a gray tone as shown in the pictures. All in the pictures have a gray tone included. But we did not want completely gray wood (looks too artificial to us), it should still look like wood.

I find nothing worse than too many different wood tones next to each other. Then I would rather take the tiles from the ground floor also in the hallway on the upper floor and attic. Or if that is ruled out, then choose a completely different pattern for the vinyl. For all I care, wood as well, but it really has to be completely different. Only half similar or so is still more noticeable than something contrasting. Don’t you have any bathrooms upstairs? Maybe the tiles from there?

Would really dark also be something for you? In the direction of Wengé or smoked oak? I don't like the gray wood imitation floors at all and don't have a good feeling about how long one stays happy with them.

Vinyl wouldn't be real wood anyway...

As I said, personally I think no other wood really fits well, only if it were strongly tinted, e.g. in a gray tone. That at least matches the rest. But it has to please you, so you have to go by what you like.

I would also agree with that suggestion, better to stay away from wood at that spot entirely.

You wrote that laminate/vinyl is fixed and it should be a wood tone, so that is probably not an option for you, however it is simply the case that different woods often combine poorly. You just have to go with what you like, even if others might not find it so nice.

Really? I actually find the gray-wood floors quite nice. I think generally it’s an absolute matter of taste; hardly anyone can advise you on the color. It depends on what you like. I would just make sure when choosing that the wooden floor clearly differs in color from the stairs so they don’t clash. So I would rather avoid other natural wood tones. I would decide somewhere between very dark, very light, or dark with some gray undertone.
