What coating is suitable for concrete stairs?

In our new building, there is a granny flat on the upper floor, which can be reached by a separate entrance from outside and then a concrete staircase going up. Now we have to decide on a stair covering. I initially thought of tiles, but they have joints that eventually get dirty. The builder suggested granite; however, that is probably more expensive. Does anyone know roughly what the prices are like? Which links are recommended for this?

I wouldn’t use granite just for a basement apartment. In the shared staircase with you, it makes more sense because then you are more likely to see something nice there...
