We also had the waterbed we bought in 2012 moved for the second time last Friday by a carpenter from BW who specializes in this (now into the house). Maybe it’s the same one. Wooden base with two large drawers, frame covered with faux leather, and LED lighting around the bed. The biggest advantage became clear right during the move: we had him move it and he noticed that the tank was defective and simply replaced it during the move and only told us afterward.
We only had one layer for stabilization installed. If you get one, better less stabilization than more. It’s really more comfortable.
Since we’ve had the bed, my wife hasn’t had any back pain, and above all, it’s simply great for allergy sufferers. Every 3 months you take off the cover and wash it and wipe the vinyl chambers with a damp cloth and rub them in with care product --> everything’s hygienically clean again.
In terms of price, over 10 years it’s hardly any different compared to decent other beds, if you stick to the replacement intervals.
Of course, disadvantages are:
- The statics must be taken into account. Ours weighs about 800kg without people. We had it included in the construction specifications with our general contractor when signing the contract.
- The bed must be heated year-round to at least 25°C, usually higher in winter (we have it set to a maximum of 30°C then). This causes costs of about €130/year for us.
