Refrigerator = 4 feet each 2*2 cm?!
A waterbed has a base that distributes the weight evenly on the floor = approx. 180 kg/m² = 2 adults facing each other drinking a beer!

If it really rests completely and the load is evenly distributed, okay. But still, I think 800kg permanent load additionally is not little.

Good evening,

We currently live in a terraced house that was built in the early 1920s. As was common in those years, the houses share "one" party wall; probably 36 cm thick. That means that the collar beams – unlike in today’s semi-detached or terraced houses – rest only halfway on the respective party wall. Moreover, no one knows what condition the wooden beams are in today. We did not want to take this risk without checking and therefore involved our structural engineer. He strongly recommended installing beams or refraining from using a waterbed. And just by the way – it is not "only" the 800 liters that have to be supported, our weight also adds to it along with the other furniture found in the bedroom. Rhenish greetings

Whether it's a waterbed or a box spring bed.....both are very comfortable.

However, I would still clarify whether the statics of a house can actually cope with a waterbed in the long term if the personal tendency should be in this direction.

Over the past two years, we have bought two box spring beds and are very satisfied with one of them. This bed is from the company Oschmann and is their premium quality.
The second bed is also from Oschmann, but the entry-level class and by far not as great in lying comfort as the other bed.

What everyone should keep in mind at least once:

A person spends most of their life in their bed, sleeping.
If I buy a high-quality wooden bed and invest in good slatted frames and good mattresses, the purchase costs are similarly high.

We have not regretted the first purchase so far. The second annoys us from time to time because we saved in the wrong place.

We once had a waterbed. Since we had a leak in it, I no longer want one. The water was caught in the tub, but it was still a hassle to get everything dry again. There is also regular maintenance: rubbing the mattress, refilling conditioner, and the upkeep costs. However, the advantage is that it was heated and you don't freeze even in winter.

For about a year now, I have had a box spring bed and would never give it up for anything in the world.

After extensive consultation and trying it out, I decided on a mattress with 260 pocket springs per m². I also have a cold foam topper.

My decision was really made after trying it out; ultimately, your own feeling is decisive for the purchase.
