Hello,

I would like to install a video doorbell and surveillance cameras for our new building.

Which video doorbell can you recommend? It should send the image to the registered phones and have a normal chime inside and possibly an additional chime upstairs in the house (if necessary). The doorbell should definitely work without the internet (of course, sending to the phone won't work). The doorbell must not have any monthly costs (no subscriptions).

Which surveillance cameras can you recommend? Should the cameras and doorbell be from the same manufacturer so that they can be combined? For example, next to the front door the video doorbell and a camera so that both images can be seen when someone rings.

Which system should we use? POE?

For the network, we will install Unifi access points on each floor and one access point in the garden.

Surveillance cameras should possibly be 1 next to the front door as an addition to the video doorbell and 1 camera with light for the garage driveway, possibly another camera next to the garage for the small path.

Which video doorbell and which surveillance cameras can you recommend?

Which video doorbell with [Ekey] module can you recommend for new construction?

What do you think of the [Doorbird] with [Ekey]?

What alternative is there with a wide viewing angle?

Planning or do you have children? Then you should consider a solution that is independent of the phone.
Also, last night I was just testing apps for our new video intercom system; I find it very inconvenient in everyday life until you have it set up so that you can actually talk. In my opinion, a sensibly placed indoor station is better.

There are currently a few other active threads on this. Maybe it will help you

I installed the Google Nest doorbell in our new building. Only a simple doorbell wire with a transformer is necessary for this. The doorbell makes our conventional chimes ring and announces the ringing independently of the location on connected phones or smart home speakers/displays. The costs for the doorbell are very manageable. A suitable broadband connection is required; otherwise, there will be lag and the image quality will be very poor. In the basic package (without longer video recording), the doorbell can be operated without subscription fees. Alternatively, there are also other smart home doorbells.

Somehow I don't really get it.

I definitely want a future-proof POE doorbell (no Wi-Fi doorbell in the new building).

Is there even the perfect video doorbell? :D

I didn't get any wiser from your mentioned threads either.

During my search, I found the following doorbells:

Doorbird - negative: cloud dependency (how bad is the cloud dependency? What happens if the cloud is shut down)

2N IP Verso - negative: relatively low resolution (I think 480p) and opaque licensing system, and if you want to use it on the go, you have to subscribe to a paid service.

Goliath - also doesn't look bad but how good is their fingerprint? Unfortunately, they don't use the one from ekey.

What alternatives are there without cloud and without monthly costs?

I also recommend taking the app reviews into account when searching. That’s why I quickly moved away from the expensive solution of a well-known manufacturer. What use is a smart home doorbell if there are constant problems with the app and smart home integration and you ultimately cannot rely on it? Personally, I have nothing against the cloud; I rather see the advantage that you don’t have to operate the infrastructure yourself in the background and the intelligence of the software is automatically kept up to date by the provider. The doorbell and app should still work in 5-10 years. With a small niche provider, it could happen that there is no current app version anymore for the latest Android/iOS version.
