Hello everyone,
we are currently planning our solidly built house without insulation. However, we do not know whether we should install a central ventilation system. The general consensus, for example in the forum, is that you definitely use such a system in a new building. Reasons: comfort, constant air circulation, etc. All well known. Also that it is not necessarily worth it energy-wise.
BUT: I have already spoken with 1-2 architects who say: Definitely build without. Reason: At the beginning everything is fine, etc. But after 5-6 years you will have hygienic problems. Despite maintenance. From their experience, most of the installed systems are switched off and no longer used. There are also some doctors who confirm this and would not install them themselves. Statement: In prefab houses yes, because necessary. In solid houses without insulation no.
I am torn. On the one hand I want to be up to date on what makes sense, on the other hand I do not want to install anything that will be switched off anyway in the medium term.
I am now completely at a loss and do not know whether to take it or not and now hope for some opinions from you on this!
Thank you very much already!

But usually not about hygienic aspects after 5-6 years and whether the systems are then shut down. Or I am blind and find nothing...

If you regularly change the filters and everything has been professionally installed, the pipes look "like new" on the inside and there are no other hygienic problems anywhere else. On the internet, you can find relevant experiences from people who have had a [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] in their house for a long time after a short search.

Hello, I can only tell you how we do it: We also build with solid construction and also without insulation. Since we did not want [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], we nevertheless decided to install a decentralized ventilation system (with heat recovery) in the bathrooms and in the utility room. Cost factor: 1000 euros, self-installed (hole in the wall - insert part - plug into socket - done). Our main concern here is to get the moisture out of these rooms and to avoid mold. The other rooms are ventilated during the day. And yes, your architect is right: we have now been living in a prefabricated house with [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] for 5 years and ours has actually been switched off recently. Why, how, and what for, I have discussed enough in other threads on this topic.

Hello Saruss,

If you talk to a professional about it, you will find the concerns of the original poster again. Myself, also a trained heating technician, am also not convinced by these systems. Not because of the necessary filter replacements, but because of the zig-zag profile of the plastic profiles; whether installed in the ceiling or in the screed. He cannot be convinced by anyone or anything that cleaning at the highest point of the profile can be guaranteed safely.

A central controlled residential ventilation system is and remains a "Jehovah topic"

Rhenish regards

Which zigzag profile? My pipes are completely smooth on the inside, even if they look "ribbed" from the outside. There is an additional layer built in on the inside. So apparently there are hygienic and unhygienic systems, but you could say the same about refrigerators, but everyone has one.
