Aren't you even a foreigner yourself? (German in Belgium, if I remember correctly) Firstly, I understood it as if you had planned a house for each of the two plots, which differ from each other according to the plots. Accordingly, plot and house would each be a system, and in the consideration the house would probably not weigh less than the baker or the way to school. And secondly, you just need to look around a bit here to see: the typical thread with over 300 posts starts with an "(almost) final draft that is to be sent next week." And so far, it has always proven wise to talk about it once more. The degree of your own satisfaction says nothing about it, best example (Neo)sciliar (or take a look at – he was not lacking in self-awareness that the last remaining doubts can be beneficial, and there was still lively discussion).

I am basically building in a gap between buildings (existing structure will be demolished) and on top of that the plot is being divided, and a family of the same age with three children is building on the other half. However, in our case, due to densification, many new buildings are emerging in an old residential area. If this possibility basically exists in your town (still many large plots that are not built on centrally), then I would definitely choose the gap between buildings. Not because of the price. Simply because I can't stand the charm of new housing developments at all. These are settlements that often look like they were made in a factory, while at the same time there are neighbors who take years to finish their house and you then look at bare Poroton or aerated concrete and pallets and debris. And is right. Children also need to learn to deal with and get along with people of different ages and life circumstances who are not family. I always hear "peer group," but the fact is that throughout one's life one is surrounded by more people who do not belong to their own peer group than vice versa. Things would certainly go better if people had more understanding for others who are different and if "I and you" would more often become "we".

New housing developments reflect their times,
take a look at settlements from the 30s, 50s, 90s, etc. They were all very modern and now look just the same.
In the case of a general contractor who sold the houses and plots, it often has the charm of a factory settlement with the aim to fit as many houses as possible.
In the building gap, you will always have variety and, with luck and skill, a view into the neighbor’s orchard.
In the new development with floor-to-ceiling windows and 6m distance, someone often loses their nerves and keeps the privacy screen permanently closed.
The current new development will be, in 30 years, the era of villas that were not really villas with gardens made of stones and 2-5m privacy screens to the neighbors,
in short, we are glad and happy in the gap, every house is different

Are there still Germans who build? Our street has 6 houses, only one family where the parents are also German.

Isn't it terrible that we have to MENTION THAT? I would call anything else sick. And..... children do that all by themselves, free of prejudice and wonderfully socially competent. But only until some crazy adults (mostly permanently worried, compulsive parents) come along and twist the healthy mind of this little kid so much that what comes out afterwards is sedated with tons of Ritalin, etc..... always, of course, for the child's own good. Sorry, I had to google it first. That can be observed in parts of South America, but so can the consequences. I shudder at the consequences of such exclusionary thinking! I'd rather go with the African proverb that says: "It takes a whole village to raise a child." Therefore, I believe it doesn't matter where they build, as long as their own spirit remains open.
