Surface heating yes, radiant heat - that can be debated. Primarily, heat is generated through convection of the air.

Your explanations about our system are probably correct - the new house will have a masonry stove, the warmth of which feels like sunlight. Of course, that's a matter of preference.

Full agreement Someone has a faulty underfloor heating installed and then, consequently, underfloor heating is rubbish... Anything other than surface heating in a new building must be very well justified. But the OP meant a Swedish slab, it is a difficult subject and the overall concept must be right.

Your underfloor heating is installed in the screed.

Thank you for the link, Haydee!! I was not aware that Schwedenplatte is just a synonym

then your underfloor heating is not directly in the floor slab. A wood stove is something really nice - but you have to think about the wood every day, so it has to be well considered if you don’t want to deal with it daily

With underfloor heating in the floor slab, my biggest concern is that any possible repair would be very complicated - much more than with underfloor heating in the screed

Behind us, a Swedish wooden house with such panels was built in the summer. What I saw was very neat. First, the ground was very well leveled and compacted and then squared. Then they laid thick Styrodur panels, on which came a steel frame, pipes and cables on top, steel again, then everything was poured in concrete. The concrete was smoothed very, very well. Actually, nothing can break there, because nothing moves anymore. I would have little fear there. Only when the Schwdenplattenherstelle claim that classic floor constructions are worse insulated, I still don't believe that. Classic construction is steel-reinforced strip foundations, steel-reinforced grouting of the areas between the strips, on which the walls stand. Then bitumen thick layer felt hot welded as a moisture barrier. Then thick insulation, on top of which the pipes, cables, etc. Then floating screed. Also a proven, warm construction. Only it takes longer due to the long screed drying time.

Thank you Nordlys! Have the neighbors moved in and are there any initial feedback on the efficiency of the heating? (Meine 2. Sorge ist eben, dass viel Wärme durch die Bodenplatte "verloren" geht)
