Hello, my property has two driveways. One is via a gravel path that only I am allowed to use, and the other is a second traffic area that is connected to a public road. I also own the second traffic area. The official access, especially for guests, is intended to be via this private traffic area. Now I have been pondering all the time how to design the path. The architect recommends going all the way around the house (see attached image, red path). However, I myself also very often have to go to the official road via the traffic area, for example to take out the trash bins (which are located in the drawn outbuilding on the left) or to empty the mailbox. The blue access path seems more sensible to me. I am torn back and forth. Do you have any other ideas for the path design?

By the way, south is to the right, west is at the bottom of the image. The distance to the boundary on the west side of the house is about 6 m, from the end of the terrace to the west boundary about 2 - 3 m.

Is it about the access to the garage?

I wouldn't make a roundabout. You always have to consider how often you receive visitors and whether you can easily drive up to and turn around near the terrace.

Do not block the property with roads. As little access for vehicles as necessary. Guests can wait one behind the other in the driveway.

Hello,
it's not about the garage driveway. I use the second driveway via the gravel path with my car. It's about pedestrians and I don't yet know how to guide them to the house entrance.

Can't you regulate both over the gravel path (shorter), meaning visitors/strangers and any cars? With the red line, you'll get dizzy by the time you reach the door, plus all around the house, that's nothing to do with privacy; on the terrace it causes disturbance. Why do visitors have to drive directly to the house/property; you can park on the street, can't you? It doesn't happen that often and in emergencies someone can also use the gravel path. I would never build over the property, especially not the important area around the terrace. If you put the trash bin there or get the mail, etc., that can be a better footpath. You don't always have other people there, and people get used to what you set. Suddenly having someone standing on the terrace would be a no-go for me, so I would use (have used) the backside for that and I would see the blue line as the "service path." Red looks more like a kart track o_O
