The rod which is supposed to represent the grounding was hammered by hand into the ground. If it were a proper “rod,” he would have had to drive it about 8 to 9 meters down. The rod is of course made of V4A and is driven in as a single piece along its entire length. Furthermore, it was placed far enough from the house so that it is not located below the eaves, and the transition to the house is naturally also made of 10mm V4A wire; the connection was sealed with sealing tape. I have to say, quite an impressive achievement. Surely, no botched work was done, right? Oh yes, the measurement values are guaranteed to be sufficient, that’s clear.

The rod was 3-4m long and was buried about 8m away from the house. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything precise about the rest.

A few weeks later and we were actually about to move in. Due to various other tradesmen, the whole thing got delayed again.... We are currently packing the last boxes because the apartment was terminated at the end of the month. We actually had the feeling that now everything was finally running smoothly. Wrong thought. The plumbers wanted to finally start up the heating system today. Unfortunately, they never got to it because water was already running down one wall. So turned off again and started troubleshooting.... Now guess where the water is coming from??? Bingo! Our favorite electrician hit a water pipe back then. End of the story: the freshly painted wall has to be opened up again... And if we're unlucky, not only in the living room but also in the bedroom. Going great, I'd say. So even well-known companies with five-star ratings can screw up!

Water running down the wall, I would measure under the screed. How long has it been running? Only a few minutes or since the drilling?

The problem lies with an installed outdoor socket. The cable for it was laid through the wall. And exactly at that point, the only pipe in the entire 8m long wall was hit. The plumbers opened the wall around the riser because water was already coming out of the sockets (they were damp). The electricians were of course also on site and recorded the damage and passed everything on. In the worst case, the electrician hit the pipe at three other points because sockets and lamps on the terrace and balcony are aligned... This whole issue only came to light now because the heating system was supposed to be put into operation and accordingly the water was flowing through the heating pipes. The plumbers had previously measured everything accurately during the renewal and the circuit was tight. However, it was then switched off because no radiators were installed. The electrician started work at the same time as the plumbers and was then occupied a few weeks longer. He saw the open risers on the upper floor and still drilled at the spot on the ground floor. I hope it is only the one spot. Otherwise, we will have to start all over again....
