We are in the process of renovating our house and are currently having more or less trouble with the electrician.

We got a quote from one of the largest electrical companies here in the area for a complete new installation of the electrical system and were quite impressed. But now, a week after the work started, it looks completely different...

- an electrician came who just recently finished his apprenticeship
- he prefers chatting with the other craftsmen instead of actually getting work done
- he laughs at the 3-week schedule and says he has to see when and what he can manage
- every single socket still has to be discussed with us again, even though we marked everything with marker paint
- he doesn’t mark the chases but just cuts right away (and it looks exactly like that!)
- apparently, no cable ducts can be laid in the wall because of the structural stability (11.5 cm bricks), which was arranged differently before
...

After 3 days, we had enough and called in the boss.
He looked at the work and said everything was within tolerance.
Marking the chases beforehand would take more time and is not part of the scope. (Is this a joke or???)

After that, things improved slightly and the electrician managed to get a bit more done each day.

Today I noticed that the light switches in the rooms are not all at the same height and the sockets (these black inner casings) have all been installed crooked.
The sockets were originally agreed to be below the light switches, but are now down on the floor.
Also, the preparation for the ceiling lamp is not centered in the room.
And it goes on like this...

Is this really all still within the tolerance range??

oh. Wild fellow. Well, putty conceals a lot. Only if the business doesn't want or can't do better, pull the ripcord and say he should settle up by today and that's that. You don't want such work. Stay polite, but not meek. Take a leaf out of Theresa May's book. Karsten

That looks away!

Are there any good examples? Otherwise, stick to Karsten.

I already didn't have a good feeling about the electrician last week and wanted to wait this week. But it really hasn't gotten any better...

Is it being petty if the slots are not milled straight? They can't make me believe that clean work takes time and is not included in the workload?! Then we could have milled the slots ourselves. I was actually glad that we could outsource some work so that everything fits within the time frame.

Now I would really like to pull the ripcord and hire someone else for it.

Can we just do that? We have signed a contract, and I think they also have the option for corrections, although I suspect the walls would look even worse then...

I know, it will all be plastered over afterwards anyway... so you can't see it anymore.
But something like this isn't really professional work, is it?
Just like with the lamp, it should be placed in the center of the room. But everything is done just approximately... Now the slot for it is at about 35% of the room width.
Measuring and marking is also difficult... *grumble*

Therefore, politely but firmly on the basis that my claim and your claim unfortunately do not match, it would be better for everyone to part ways.
