Yes, I understand that, and such wooden houses do exist. The large manufacturers rely heavily on slim and affordable wall construction with Styrofoam. However, there are many different construction methods for timber frame houses – and of course, everyone is convinced they build the best one. There are definitely good options for sound and heat insulation with wood as well. The climate should actually be significantly better than in a house built according to the Energy Saving Ordinance with ETICS.

But the highlight doesn't have ETICS, but the premium. Clinker, insulation, probably Rockwool or something, then bricks.

Wood creaks?! Yes, I suspect that it is due to the difference between outside and inside temperature or the humidity. It hasn't creaked here so far, but I know it from other houses. Wood moves, concrete and stone just don’t. The wall construction is always different, the neighbors’ are well insulated. Usually, the heat comes in through the windows... at least in our case.
