Hello, I always thought I was the only one who really messed up. Among other things, we also had problems with the windows. The general contractor ordered them in Poland and had them installed by his people, who are anything but specialists. 28 windows installation and "sealing" in 2 days. The windows, including the external roller shutters, are fine, nothing to complain about. Except that the patio doors are 5 cm too short. Well, 1st sealing criticized, after that sealing tapes were stuffed from the outside between the reveal and the frame on the installed windows. 2nd time criticized. Now everything was scraped out again and completely sprayed with foam from inside and outside. Criticized again. Final deadline set and 3-level sealing demanded. Begged a local window fitter to take on the work, who didn't want to at all because of warranty coverage for windows and roller shutters, but ultimately did it.
Costs for windows: €18,000, installation and sealing no. 1: allegedly €10,000; sealing no. 2: €3,000; sealing no. 3: €5,000 and the 4th and last again almost €7,000. The 4th sealing, however, also took 7 working days with 3 workers.
How can you ensure nowadays that the windows are nevertheless installed properly?
Difficult. There is no DIN standard for window installation, only guidelines. You would already have to make sure in the construction contract, for example, that it says: installation and sealing according to the guidelines of the Institute for Window Technology Rosenheim or sealing with 3-level sealing tape. But who has already dealt with such things at that time?
