Hello,

my girlfriend and I are currently planning our new house. It starts this week and a few questions are still open.

Our shower is to be lined with natural stone on the inside. (Image attached)
1. Does anyone have experience with how easy or difficult it is to maintain?
2. How is it best to install a shower panel or the shower fittings on such a wall? If the panel is 20cm wide, do you have to leave that width free of natural stone on the wall, or are there other solutions?

Best regards and many thanks in advance for the help.

Are you sure you want something like that? How do you plan to keep it clean? With tiles or smooth walls, you can just go over them with a "Flitsche" to avoid constant cleaning, but in this wall the limescale practically gets stuck ....

Hello,
we live in an area with pure groundwater. We don’t have a water softener or anything similar and so far haven’t even had to descale the showerhead or, for example, the kettle because we don’t have this problem here in the area. I should have mentioned that earlier. So in terms of limescale, we don’t have any difficulties here.

Have you never scrubbed the shower? We also have pure water, but soap residue, dirt, and maybe even mold settle in the gaps. Many try to use tiles as large as possible to avoid grout lines, and you want to have nice steps in addition to the many grout lines. I don’t think that’s a good idea. Talk it over with your girlfriend again.

Hi, Currently we have a shower/sauna combo. Mostly made of plastic and with smooth surfaces but also "grooves" (joints). It's enough to spray the entire shower once a week with a strong cleaner and rinse it off. I was also thinking about some kind of impregnation for the natural stones. Does anyone have experience or know about this from acquaintances?
