I can imagine that soap residues and hair will be the problem with the protruding grout lines.

Harsh cleaners are generally not really desired in one's own household, unless there is no other way...
We currently have glass mosaic in the shower area and unfortunately we have to treat the grout every few months with correspondingly harsh cleaners... that is not exactly a highlight for our lungs :(
I can also imagine that many cleaners for these panels, whether really made of natural stone or plastic, are not good but rather attack them.

I would play it safe with tiles in the shower area and use natural stone look above the washbasin or under the bathtub :)

Basically, the natural stone should be protected with a good natural stone impregnator. (Please test first on a small area and see how it behaves.)

Please no "DIY store crap"!!! Better pay 10 € more and get the cleaning products from a specialist shop.

Regarding care in the shower area, it is purely a matter of attitude. For someone who hates cleaning, it is the wrong product. Basically, I would rather position such an application on another wall so that I can enjoy it longer.

The cladding around the fittings should be spared. (good tiler)

Best regards

Well... if you don’t have work, you make some...

Personally, I would advise against such a wall in the shower; the maintenance effort becomes quite high over time, one-time "impregnation" won’t do it here. The impregnation must be renewed from time to time. Besides, no one gives a guarantee for a 100% stain-free surface. Apart from the fact that cleaning with "harsh" cleaners is not only environmentally unfriendly, but you also damage the impregnation, the material, and not to forget yourself as well.

Regarding leaving out the stones, certainly possible, but the problem starts with adjusting and grouting the fixture covers...

If it is supposed to be a beautiful natural stone, there are certainly other solutions. I recommend visiting a building materials dealer with expert tile consultation; it costs nothing and doesn’t hurt... What is also recommended here is to visit a natural stone processor, a stonemason around the corner, the one who also makes gravestones.

PLEASE not IN THE HARDWARE STORE!!!
