Hello Sully61,

Thank you for your information.
The front doors are currently being installed on the hinge side and then on the handle side so that the door leaf falls well into the lock. It may be that the frame on the handle side sits slightly "out of level."
Since you obviously have a single-leaf aluminum door, the material should be stable enough not to warp.
The seal on the new door naturally has high restoring forces at the beginning. These sometimes cause the door leaf to be quasi "pushed open." However, this subsides over time (with the diminishing restoring forces).
The automatic lock should close the door leaf more securely in the frame than it appears in your case. The purpose of the automatic lock is precisely that the leaf is "automatically" locked in the frame when pulling the door shut without any manual effort.
Has the customer service technician checked the upper lock case? He should probably do so again, because it does not look to me like an automatically locking front door leaf at that point. That is not okay. Keep complaining.
Regards.

I am 100% sure that it is due to the frame. The level is slightly off precisely on this side. If I push the door closed from the inside and then turn the key, everything works smoothly. In other places, as mentioned, it is rock solid.

Is it actually possible to fix something like this? As I can see, the frame is only held in place with the long screws. You should be able to slightly loosen them at those points to push the frame back a bit? You would just need to remove some plaster.

If that is the error, you can do it that way. If the door leaf is slightly warped, it will also be pressed at the corresponding corner. That’s it then. But why do you also lock the automatic lock with the key? Or was that just for testing? Good luck.

That was just for testing. If you turn the key slowly, you won't be able to open the door without pulling. If you turn it very quickly, it works. But not always. If I pull, it always works (even with very slow turning of the key).

It is especially common nowadays with such sensitive surfaces that the outer frame is installed without the original sash. This has the advantage that the original sash cannot be damaged or scratched during the construction period. This often leads to the sashes not fitting optimally. By adjusting the hinges, depending on the hinge type, the function can be significantly improved. Question: Does the door always function equally poorly? In other words, does the door work significantly better when it is cold and/or when no sun shines on the sash for a longer time? Question: On which side east/south/west/north is the door installed? Is the door exposed to sun and weather unprotected?

If there is still a warranty, I would not attempt any repairs yourself.

With today’s construction methods for buildings and the various mounting types available, it is sometimes very difficult to "shift" an outer frame by a few millimeters without causing greater damage.

So the door faces the north side. At the moment, it is naturally without protection. But the doors were installed in the week of the house handover. So the doors cannot have been exposed to the weather for long.

The door always malfunctions in the same way. As soon as you turn the key slowly, the door does not open. The adjustment attempt was carried out twice now without success.
