Terrace roofing, PC roof/glass, awning under glass?!

Hello everyone,

a few weeks ago I opened a topic regarding the roofing of the terrace.
We have now decided against a simple awning and want something fixed over the area from the bay window to the other side of the house, width 7.60 m and depth 4 m. The terrace, which will be made in 2 weeks as part of the outdoor area, will be just as big.

We are still not sure whether to take a glass roof with an under-glass awning or something more high-quality like a PC roof and then possibly without the under-glass awning.
Disadvantage of the latter: less light goes through, possibly loud when it rains due to the hollow chamber system.
Advantage: huge cost savings compared to glass.

We are also asking ourselves: if we look out from the dining room (middle floor-to-ceiling window at the top, see picture), will we then be looking at an eventually ugly yellow-green roof if we take PC? Does anyone have experience?
Second picture - something like that is how we would like it to look as a roofing, with a side wedge window on the right because underneath on the side there will be a privacy screen made of larch.

Do you possibly have advice/tips?

Thanks!

Regards

What do you understand by an "enormous" cost saving? Our patio roof with 1cm thick glass and glass side wedge on one side including installation cost about 5000 euros (without awnings), dimensions are 5.70 x 4m, I don't find that so expensive. Best regards Sabine

So far, our quotes for 7.60m x 4m with awning are between 11,000 and 17,000 euros.

I don't know how it is with complete packages, but in self-construction the difference between glass/double wall sheets was really completely irrelevant. I paid 39€/m2 for the glass (2*5mm laminated safety glass). However, I would strongly recommend glass; I would not want a roofing made of double wall sheets.

Hello

clearly VGA glass 9mm.
I am currently working on my terrace roof.
Background: 9 x 3 meters. Decent aluminum profiles. Wall thickness over 3mm. Including static calculations.
I have checked the relevant suppliers.
Quotes between 16,000 and 24,000 Euros.
Then I went to a profile manufacturer. They offered me the kit (completely cut to size (except for the 3 supports) and transport to my home) and the address of a glazier. Price: just under 7,000 Euros (including glass). Installation by suggested installers about 2,000 Euros.
I will do the installation myself. Once I’m thrifty and also I do it better. But it takes longer.

We have now also decided on glass. Thickness 8 mm. We pay for two roofing units, one 4 × 4, one 1.75 m × 3.50 m with under-glass awning on the 4x4, without assembly 9,000 €. That is really totally fine. We have aluminum profiles in RAL 7016.

Glad that we finally decided on glass

Regards
