phew.... I can't tell you the brand of the aluminum construction. It is custom-made in the factory since we have a depth of 397.5 cm.

The awnings and drives are from Warema. The vertical awnings are made of a fairly sturdy "screen fabric" that can be wiped clean. It is also not completely opaque.

We also had two other offers. One was 26,500 € and the other just under 35,000 €! And with this offer, the roofing was only 3m deep!

Hello everyone,

I need an assessment of our situation or the price of an offer.

Currently, we are looking for shading for our terrace. Optimum 6x4m, 5x4 would still work.
Orientation southwest, we would also like to be able to close it on the sides (south) and front (west).

We then visited a house fair of a metal/element builder who specializes in windows, winter gardens, etc.

According to the discussion there and setting the approximate budget ("under 10K€") and the mutual realization that a terrace roof is out of reach price-wise (and we actually don't want one), we then came to the topic of a "textile terrace roof."

It was suggested to us to mount an awning (Erwilo, coated with acrylate) on the wall (ETICS) and not just support it at the front with two posts like a usual pergola but to mount an aluminum construction underneath resembling a terrace roof which allows us to have a Zip-Screen vertical awning at the front and especially on the sides. Only at the north side no support will be placed at the back.
And on the south side with a pitch triangle/skylight that will be permanently shaded with a solid sheet or matte glass.
Everything electric but without radio, since we will then attach Z-Wave actuators ourselves. Although the offer still includes radio, that allegedly hardly makes any difference in the price.
Furthermore, it should be possible later to replace the substructure with something stronger including a glass roof, but the awning mounted on the wall on top can remain and would be installed on top of that. This conversion option was emphasized strongly, but whether we ever want a real terrace roof is doubtful.
Including foundations and installation.

After a further on-site appointment where everything still sounded great, the offer and the price blew us away.
19K€ for 6x4.

Even in the smaller version (5x4) it is still 18K€.

Are they trying to rip us off here?

We also had an offer without side and front shading because the other only installs the manufacturer’s awning with the manufacturer’s pergola posts and thus offered a Warema 6x4 for 6.7K€ (but without foundations).
But we do not want that.

We are still waiting for an offer from another metal builder but fear he will be similarly priced as the first.

And the last one did not even want to look at it on site, refused to offer a textile terrace roof (wind/dirt/real terrace roof even cheaper!?) and now wants to offer us a terrace roof with shading inside, front, and side without an on-site appointment. Allegedly "not more expensive than this weird awning stuff the others offer me."

What do you generally think about the idea of a textile terrace roof and what do you think about the offered price?

We have a free-standing terrace roof, made of aluminum and glass, with an awning and vertical awning both [Weinor] with [Somfy] control, in your size, with foundation and installation, with infrared heater and LED lights and rain drainage for €15,000. Free-standing because of [Holzständerwerkhaus] and [Wärmeverbundsystem]. Just for price estimation. I come from NRW.

Which part of Germany are you from? We got a glass terrace roof including awnings below your budget, so I would rather look again for a fixed roof in your place.

Best regards
Sabine

I can't compete with our canopy at all... Dimensions were about 4 x 5 meters. Self-built from wood. The roof is made of slightly tinted Plexiglass corrugated sheets, so it doesn't get too dark in the living room during winter. In summer, it would be too hot to sit here since it’s a complete south side. I then stretched a 4x4 meter sun sail under the roof. That makes it bearable...

Costs about 600€ for the wood, 600€ for the roof including rain gutters + some small materials. It will have cost roughly 1,500 euros. Maybe I’ll add a picture in the next few days.
