I have to ask the experts about that too. At our place, the phone should be connected in the utility room. Fiber to Home. In case that’s important. But I don’t want the Fritzbox there. It has to go in the office. Because not only WLAN for the tablet and PC comes from there, but also a wired phone with a wireless handset and a fax machine need to be connected. I need and want that. None of that belongs in the utility room. So does the router have to be connected directly to the Telekom socket, or can the electrician use it as a pass-through and put something in the office for me? Sorry for the layman’s terms, but this is really not my field at all.

That is actually exactly my question. And according to the answers already written, it is simply about converting the cable that now connects TAE and router in the connection room into a network cable, placing it on the LAN socket at the router, and then plugging the router into the LAN socket.

So, that was simple enough to understand. Whether eight cores or 64, I don't care... only that the Fritz comes into the office and is plugged into a socket there. And not in the utility room. Thanks, guys.

Hello,

why does the router have to be placed there? Leave the router in the utility room and connect it to the switch. Then LAN cable to an access point. With PoE you also don't need power there.

If it's about telephone, etc., this should also work without problems with LAN.

An access point is the transition point from LAN to WLAN, basically a transmitter. You can power it using power over Ethernet - POE, so that you only need the network cable.
