The absurd thing is that there is a huge oak tree in the south of the property, which is why the living room windows will be in the shade most of the day.
Is this really the case throughout the year? When the sun is high in summer, the tree would have to be very close to the house to provide shade. Additionally, such a tree only has a limited width. So there can definitely be a few hours when the tree does not provide any shade.
I would not use roller shutters in the living area but rather Venetian blinds.
