Hello dear ones,

I am currently in the planning phase of my semi-detached house (house size 7x12m, 2 floors plus attic and basement)
my architect has sent me two offers to choose from for a structural engineer. Now I am unfortunately very confused because the two offers have extreme price differences.
The first offer is 3,080 euros, the second 14,890 euros.
Can someone tell me if that is really possible?
Our architect naturally leans towards the cheaper one, but I am worried if that can be correct.
It would be nice if someone with experience could help me evaluate this

Best regards, yours

How should one know that without knowing what was offered? If both are on invoice, both know how to do the job, and both have offered the same, take the cheaper one. But without facts, impossible to decide. A very high offer can also mean: no desire for the job, have enough to do.

Hello, we just had the same experience. One structural engineer was a service provider who often works with our architect. For this reason, he does not bill according to HOAI and is accordingly cheaper. The other offices all wanted to bill according to HOAI, ergo more expensive. We decided on the cheaper one, after all, the architect and he are familiar with each other.
