Tell that to the residents of the Middle Rhine Valley. With such statements, you will certainly make many friends there, who would gladly let you "try sleeping" a night or two. Furthermore, highway noise has a completely different character than railway noise.
In advance - the language of the forum is the informal "Du" ;)
I don't need to "try sleeping" anywhere, I know noise of all kinds; I described a little earlier.
I rarely understand these discussions, because every person has the choice, right? But what annoys me most and honestly: everyone wants to live right in the middle, with the best connections to train, bus, and highway, but the noise should please just disappear. That doesn't work, not even in the 21st century. That won't be solved by the increase of e-cars either, because then other problems will come to us. Currently: you simply don't hear these vehicles.
I happen to know the study, it primarily deals with aircraft noise. That's something completely different and the residents near Düsseldorf Airport know that very well. Years ago, the current residents bought building land very, very cheaply in the immediate vicinity – with full knowledge of all environmental conditions – only to complain cheerfully years later. I don't have to understand that either ....
