Hello Behaim, :)
we are also considering building with the filled bricks. Can you tell me the exact reason why you were advised against these stones?
Thanks and regards
Tatze
Well, then we are back at the discussion about what is probably smarter: an ETICS, internally filled bricks, or a monolithic thick masonry.
I prefer ETICS because I can simply "wrap up" all the weak points and avoid any thermal bridges. That was also the main argument from various builders and, by the way, architects besides the price. Roller shutter boxes, connection points, wall projections, etc. With an ETICS I can nicely cover everything, with filled bricks I have to be extremely careful to make sure that absolutely everything is done correctly and there are no weak points. It was simply too uncertain for me, aside from the price. Also the argument that the dew point would pass through the wall with these stones, whereas with ETICS it is probably rather within this and the entire wall on the insulated side was important to me. As I said, it seems to be a matter of belief, but I am not one to demonize ETICS, rather the opposite.
And I already have several, even older, buildings in my neighborhood, none of which had problems with it. The filled bricks would be too uncertain for me, even though they were admittedly very tempting for me. Again: it is a matter of belief, for my part I tend to go more in the direction of 30 Liapor Super-K-Plus + 14cm ETICS.
