Yes, apparently that is unfortunately how it is today, that everyone has to look out for themselves.
For the building gap that we have now acquired, there were quite a few interested parties, and the seller said that he would not pay for a soil survey. Thus, we could choose whether to have one created ourselves and then be sure that we can build a basement without a white tank, or buy the property on a whim and then have to finance it afterwards if necessary. Or completely withdraw from the purchase.

Up to the "weiße Wanne" – which is already a misnomer, since it is originally a basement-in-basement system – there are many sealings according to DIN [haumichtot]. So we are talking here – unless the entire soil beneath the house has to be replaced, which would easily push the investment into five figures – about an investment sum in the range of EUR 8-10 thousand depending on the sealing and the size of the construction project.
