Smart home for underfloor heating in a KfW40+ house?

I once had that in a project. Actually, nothing changes for you, except that the heat generator is not in your basement. The control in the house must then be done either via an external control unit or dumb thermostats in the rooms. You then have a transfer point with mixers hanging in the technical room.

It only became problematic there because it was not only district heating but also district cooling. However, the central unit decided what came through the pipes and when. This regularly did not match the residents' perception.

Hi!

Wow, things are really happening here. Thanks for all the responses. I’ll try to address some of the comments.

First of all, I’m fully aware that remotely controlled roller shutters don’t constitute a smart home. I included that here somewhat lazily and simplistically.

But now to the core of the discussion... In simple terms for an amateur like me: Basically, a control or ERR seems completely unnecessary?

So no control valves at all, or what?

How do you then, for example, get the bedroom cooler than the rest? Or is that idea itself naive? Visually, I don’t mind wall thermostats at first, but where is the technical or efficiency advantage here?

By the way, the heating system is a Tecalor Thz 5.5 eco, so with integrated ventilation and a 230-liter domestic hot water tank.

I’m really a desk jockey and probably not well informed. Sorry about that :)

Cheers!

The flow rates are set differently depending on the room. Of course, due to thermodynamics, the rooms would eventually equalize, but if the doors are mostly closed, the temperatures still remain noticeably different with only minor energy losses to the house. I can say this from my own experience: I have two wall heaters in the living kitchen and underfloor heating with tiles in the bathroom. My bedroom has no heating at all. It is a bit warmer in the bathroom and significantly cooler in the bedroom. After some testing (a change ;-) of the flow rates, it is to my complete satisfaction. The one ERR in the utility room was only installed so that, "if necessary," we can turn the heating completely "off" or completely "on." But it is basically money thrown away; we will never need it (at least that’s what I assume). Even a particularly responsive underfloor heating is slow. Changes are often only noticeable after 2-3 hours. No fiddling with the ERR increases efficiency.

Exactly, because we all want efficient houses.

The developer's consultant has no idea or is advising against better knowledge. The room cools down so quickly with the window open that no underfloor heating with ERR can compensate by heating. Unless with very high flow temperatures. But then you wouldn’t want to walk barefoot through the room anymore.

Why are you then here in the forum if you don’t believe anything? Do you need photos of the last heating system or what do I have to do to become credible?
